Compare and contrast polysaccharides and nucleic acids in terms of monomer diversity and how they monomers are joined together

The monomer units of the carbohydrates vary in their total numbers extensively. Moreover, positions of the carbonyl groups along with the orientation of the hydroxyl groups also vary in the carbohydrates' monomers. The presence of any modification is also variable.

On the other hand, the nucleic acids have only 4 monomeric units. The linkages between the nucleic acid residues have less geometry than the glycosidic linkages.

The monomer of the polysaccharide is a monosaccharide, whereas the monomer of the nucleic acid is a nucleotide. The polysaccharide plays an important role in energy storage and formation of cell structure. The nucleic acid is the primary component of DNA and RNA.

Further Explanation:

The simple sugars (polysaccharides) are important cellular nutrients. The metabolism of the simple sugar such as glucose helps in generating energy in the form of ATP. It is a structural component of the cell that helps in the cellular recognition processes. For example, it helps inthe intracellular movement of protein. The monomers of polysaccharides aremonosaccharides. They are polymeric carbohydrates that are linked together by the glycosidic bond. The example of the polysaccharides is glucose, fructose, and glycogen. It also helps in forming the cell structure.

Nucleic acid plays an important role in storing and transmitting the hereditary information. It acts as an information molecule of the cell. The monomer of the nucleic acid is a nucleotide.DNA (deoxyribose nucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid) are composed of nucleic acid. DNA is a genetic material present inside the nucleus of the cell. The humans and other living beings inherit this material from their parents. RNA is also a genetic material that is created from the DNA. It helps in several cellular activities such as RNA is involved in DNA synthesis. mRNA (messenger RNA) carries the information regarding the protein synthesis to the ribosomes.

In order to interpret the results obtained from this kind of survey, we simply could not rely on the number alone.
So, the data analysis that he would likely to apply to interpret the results would be : Qualitative and inferential
