Here, you know that you have complementary angles. 
And you also know that the sum of two complementary angles always equals to 90.

Therefore, you just have to substract the different degrees angles you have from 90.

It would gives :

1) 90-37=53

2)90-65=25

I also did the same with the two y variables as well which were 7 and -1, then I divided both by two to get the variable 3.
