What is the relative minimum of the function?
raketka [301]

Answer:

Relative minimum is where the function is at a low point. In this case, the relative minimum is at the very lowest point. In this case, it is also an absolute minimum.

Step-by-step explanation:

If you think of the letter U, it's the very low point of the U, where it changes from going down to going up.

an ellipse has a center at the origin, a vertex along the major axis at (13, 0), and a focus at (12, 0). What is the equation of
yan [13]
Hi, as the elipce has a center at the origion and tha major distance is the axis

\frac{x^2}{a^2} + \frac{y^2}{b^2}  = 1

But,

c = 12        Distance of focus

a = 13   ->  Major distance

b = ?  ->

But,

\\ b^2 + c^2 = a^2
 \\
 \\ b^2 + 12^2 = 13^2
 \\
 \\ b^2 + 144 = 169
 \\
 \\ b^2 = 169 - 144
 \\
 \\ b^2 = 25
 \\
 \\ b =  \sqrt{5}
 \\
 \\ b = 5

Then,

\\  \frac{x^2}{(13)^2} +  \frac{y^2}{(5)^2} = 1
 \\
 \\ or
 \\
 \\  \frac{x^2}{169} +  \frac{y^2}{25} = 1

How do I do this? Help
Aliun [14]
Since each point of the triangle is going to be 1.5 times as far from the center of dilation, each side will increase by a factor of 1.5..

3 x 1.5 = 4.5m
4 x 1.5 = 6m
5 x 1.5 = 7.5m

So the perimeter of the new triangle will be 4.5 + 6 + 7.5 = 18 meters

X and Y together can do a piece of work in 10 days and X alone can do it in 15 days would Y alone can finish the work ?
Ratling [72]

Answer:

<em>Y alone can do the piece of work in 30 days.</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Proportions</u>

Let's make:

N = days for Y to finish the work alone

Since X alone can do it in 15 days, each day he can do a proportion of 1/15 of the piece of work.

Since Y alone can (possibly) do it in N days, each day he can do 1/N parts of the work.

Together, they do

\displaystyle \frac{1}{15}+\frac{1}{N}

parts of the work per day. We know they can finish it in 10 days, thus:

\displaystyle \frac{1}{15}+\frac{1}{N}=\frac{1}{10}

Rearranging:

\displaystyle \frac{1}{N}=\frac{1}{10}-\frac{1}{15}

The LCM of 10 and 15 is 30, thus operating:

\displaystyle \frac{1}{N}=\frac{3-2}{30}=\frac{1}{30}

Solving for N:

N = 30

Y alone can do the piece of work in 30 days.
