The line ''I wandered lonely as a cloud'' is an example of a simile.

A simile is a figurative expression that compares one thing with another by using the words 'like' or 'as'.

However, the use of "as" or "like" in simile is unique and therefore distinguishes from every other form.

Further Explanation

Let us consider its variances in the following few examples.

Example: Hitler was as stubborn as a goat.

Note: The example has the use of 'as' repeatedly used thereby making the comparison between Hitler's doggedness and goat stubbornness or refusal to leave a place.

So, one can easily recognize a simile if it draws an indirect comparison between the quality of a thing and another.

''I wandered lonely as a cloud'' hints at the state of a person who walked aimlessly dejected person.

The post says ''I wander lonely''. Through the use of ''as'' he compares how he wandered around to the sluggishness and loneliness of a cloud in the sky.

"who are compassionate" What accurately describes this phrase? verb phrase, noun phrase, adjectival clause, or adverbial clause?
Ivahew [28]

The correct answer is adjectival clause.

An adjectival clause is a dependent clause that works to describe a noun in a sentence. It is usually made of a group of words instead of one word only. All the words work together to modify the noun or pronoun.

A dependent clause contains a subject and a verb but it's not a complete sentence and it can not stand alone.

Adjectival clauses begin with a relative pronoun that connects them to the word they describe. The relative pronouns are: that, where, then, who, which, why etc.

In the clause who are compassionate, the who is the relative pronoun. The clause refers and modifies the noun appearing before in the sentence.
