The algebraic equation is 4(0.25)+2x=17

STEP 1: Simplify both sides of the equation

1+2x=17  or  2x+1

STEP 2: Subtract both sides

2x = 16

STEP 3: Divide both sides by 2

2x/2 = 16/2

x = 8

Molly purchased 8 books last month
