Answer:

16 and 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Let (x+y) =20 and (x-y)=12 then:

Isolate for x in each equation

   x=20-y and x=12+y

Set the equations to equal each other since the value of x should be the same for both

   20-y = 12+y

Rearrange so that y is on one side and the numbers are on the other

   8 = 2y

   y= 8/2

   y= 4

Now  substitute the y- value back into either of the original equations

   x+y= 20

   x+4 = 20

Rearrange and isolate  x

   x = 20-4

   x = 16

So the two values are 16 and 4

Doss [256]
C(5,4)(.40)^4(1-.40)^1=5(.4)^4(.6)^1=0.0768

That's 7.68% = 7.7% (rounded)

Note: C(5, 4) is the number of combinations of 5 things taken 4 at a time. You may have seen this written as _5C_4

In general, C(n,r)=\frac{n!}{r!(n-r)!}

<h3>Answer:</h3>

761680

<h3>Explanation:</h3>

\sf \boxed{\sum _{n=1}^{44}\:60\left(1.2\right)^{n-2}}

<u>Identify the following's</u>:

First Term [a]  =  60(1.2)ⁿ⁻² = 60(1.2)¹⁻² = 50

Common ratio [r]  =  1.2

Total Terms [n] =  44

===========================

\sf Geometric \ Sum \ of  \ Terms = \dfrac{a(r^n - 1)}{r-1}

===========================

Solving Steps:

<em />\rightarrow \sf \dfrac{a(r^n - 1)}{r-1}<em />

<em />

<em />\rightarrow \sf \dfrac{50(1.2^{44} - 1)}{1.2-1}<em />

Find the value of x and y
Natalija [7]

Hello and Good Morning/Afternoon:

<u>Let's take this problem step-by-step</u>:

<u>What does the information want:</u>

  • value of x
  • value of y

<u>Let's gather some information</u>:

  • ΔA'BC' and ΔABC are similar triangles

             ⇒ Angle B is shared by both triangles

             ⇒ Angle A' and A are the same, as they are both on parallel

                   lines, A'C' and AC, and both angles are formed with the

                   same line AB

                 ⇒ by the <em>Angle-Angle Theorem*</em>, they are similar triangles

<u>If they are similar triangles</u>:

   ⇒ their side lengths are proportional to each other

  • let's find x's value

          ⇒ let's set up a proportion

                 \frac{A'B}{AB} =\frac{A'C'}{AC} \\\frac{30}{x+30} =\frac{14}{22} \\14(x+30) = 30*22\\14x + 420 = 660\\14x = 240\\x = 17.143

  • let's find y's value

          ⇒ let's set up a proportion

                 \frac{BC'}{BC} =\frac{A'C'}{AC} \\\frac{y}{y+15} =\frac{14}{22} \\22y=14(y+15)\\22y=14y+210\\8y=210\\y=26.25

<u>Answer:</u>

  • <u>x= 17.143</u>
  • <u>y = 26.25</u>

Hope that helps!
