second, they won the battle of princeton when washington crossed the delaware river again. this battle was against many of the british, and at one point washington and his troops actually got trapped. however they were clever and used the darkness against the british to attack them, and they used surprise again to attack in the morning. washington’s leadership during this battle encouraged his men to fight back until they won.
