Answer:

48 cups of orange juice,  24 containers.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Jackie used 5 times as much water as concentrate to make orange juice.

There were 32 more cups of water than concentrate.

Question asked:

How much juice did she make in all ?

She poured the juice in 2 quart containers how many containers could she fill ?

Solution:

Let concentrate used in the juice = x

<u>As Jackie used 5 times as much water as concentrate:</u>

Then water  used in the juice = 5x

<u>According to question:</u>

<u>To make orange juice 32 more cups of water used than concentrate is equals to to make orange juice</u>, Jackie used 5 times as much water as concentrate, we will write this as:-

x+5x=x+x+32\\6x=2x+32\\

Subtracting both sides by 2x

4x=32\\

Dividing both sides by 4

x=8

Concentrate used in the juice = x = 8 cups

Water  used in the juice = 5x = 5\times8=40\ cups

Total quantity of juice =8 + 40 = 48 cups

Thus, she made 48 cups of orange juice for her basketball team.

Now, as she poured the juice in 2 quart containers, we have to find number of containers could be filled, we will simply divide total quantity of juice by 2 quart

Number of 2 quart containers = 48 cups \div 2 = 24 containers

Thus, she can fill 24 containers.

Find the least common multiple (LCM) of 8y^6+ 144y^5+ 640y^4 and 2y^4 + 40y^3 + 200y^2.
Mice21 [21]

Answer:

<em>LCM</em> = 8y^{4}(y+ 10)^{2}(y + 8)

Step-by-step explanation:

Making factors of 8y^{6}+ 144y^{5}+ 640y^{4}

Taking 8y^{4} common:

\Rightarrow 8y^{4} (y^{2}+ 18y+ 80)

Using <em>factorization</em> method:

\Rightarrow 8y^{4} (y^{2}+ 10y + 8y + 80)\\\Rightarrow 8y^{4} (y (y+ 10) + 8(y + 10))\\\Rightarrow 8y^{4} (y+ 10)(y + 8))\\\Rightarrow \underline{2y^{2}} \times  4y^{2} \underline{(y+ 10)}(y + 8)) ..... (1)

Now, Making factors of 2y^{4} + 40y^{3} + 200y^{2}

Taking 2y^{2} common:

\Rightarrow 2y^{2} (y^{2}+ 20y+ 100)

Using <em>factorization</em> method:

\Rightarrow 2y^{2} (y^{2}+ 10y+ 10y+ 100)\\\Rightarrow 2y^{2} (y (y+ 10) + 10(y + 10))\\\Rightarrow \underline {2y^{2} (y+ 10)}(y + 10)        ............ (2)

The underlined parts show the Highest Common Factor(HCF).

i.e. <em>HCF</em> is 2y^{2} (y+ 10).

We know the relation between <em>LCM, HCF</em> of the two numbers <em>'p' , 'q'</em> and the <em>numbers</em> themselves as:

HCF \times LCM = p \times q

Using equations <em>(1)</em> and <em>(2)</em>: \Rightarrow 2y^{2} (y+ 10) \times LCM = 2y^{2} \times  4y^{2}(y+ 10)(y + 8) \times 2y^{2} (y+ 10)(y + 10)\\\Rightarrow LCM = 2y^{2} \times  4y^{2}(y+ 10)(y + 8) \times (y + 10)\\\Rightarrow LCM = 8y^{4}(y+ 10)^{2}(y + 8)

Hence, <em>LCM</em> = 8y^{4}(y+ 10)^{2}(y + 8)

There are 54 players in a beach volleyball club. Nine of the players cannot attend a game night. The coach needs to make even te
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

7/9

Step-by-step explanation:

There are 54 players.

Dividing 54 into 6 gives:54/6=9teams

But 9 players are not at the game,

So 54-9=45

Dividing 45 players into teams of 6 players 45/6=7.5 that is 7 teams and 3 players

Therefore the fraction of players in sixth at the game is=7/9

Answer:

x = 111

Step-by-step explanation:

1.) x + (x + 1) + (x + 2) = 336

2.) x + x + 1 + x + 2 = 336

3.) 3x + 3 = 336

4.) 3x = 333

4.) x = 111

Check Work:

1.) 111 + (111 + 1) + (111 +2) = 336

2.) 111 + 111 + 1 + 111 + 2 = 336
