This is an identical problem answered by myself a few days ago.  The answer is reproduced below for your convenience.

It is a very difficult problem if the box sizes are smaller or if there are more pies to pack.
For this particular problem, we first calculate the total weight of pies:
4 apple pies at 700 g = 2800 g
8 banoffee pies at 725 g =5800 g
3 custaard pies at 600 g = 1800 g
5 rhubarb pies at 675 g = 3375 g
for a total of 13775 g

The minimum number of boxes needed will be 13775/4000=3.44, or at least 4 boxes will be required.

We also note that 4 boxes will hold 16000 g, and we only need to pack 13775g, so there is a lot of margin.

We can proceed to do the mechanical way, fill in order of apple, banoffee, custard, and finally rhubarb pies.Following table shows how we fill, naively:      box content               Remaining to pack
Box A B C R     Weight    A B C R
0                                      4  8  3 5     (original order)
1     4  1  0 0     3525       0  7  3 5
2     0  5  0 0     3625       0  2  3 5
3     0  2  3 0     3250       0  0  0 5
4     0  0  0 5     3375       0  0  0 0
Total weight     13775 g

So that does the job, 4 boxes (minimum) with none exceeding 4000 g to pack a total of 13775 g of pies.

The quadrilateral shown is a rectangle. What is the measure of PR? (round to the nearest hundredth)
sladkih [1.3K]

Option B) 37.12 is the right answer

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that the qudrilateral is a rectangle which means that opposite sides wil be equal and all interior angles will be 90 degrees

So

PS = 17

PQ = SR = 33

The diagonal PR will form a right-angles triangle with PR being the hypotenuse

So,

Base = SR = 33

Perpendicular = PS = 17

Hypotenuse = PR = ?

The Pythagoras theorem will be used to find the length of PR

So,

H^2 = B^2+P^2\\(PR)^2 = (SR)^2 + (PS)^2\\PR^2 = (33)^2+(17)^2\\PR^2 = 1089+289\\PR^2 = 1378\\

Taking square root on both sides

\sqrt{PR^2} = \sqrt{1378}\\PR = 37.1214

Rounding off to nearest 100th

PR = 37.12

Hence,

Option B) 37.12 is the right answer

Using the figure to the right, if RSTU is a rhombus, find measure RST.
sammy [17]

Given:

In rhombus RSTU, m\angle RUV=(10x-23)^\circ and m\angle TUV=(3x+19)^\circ.

To find:

The m\angle RST.

Solution:

We know that, diagonals of a rhombus are angle bisector. So,

m\angle RUV=m\angle TUV

(10x-23)^\circ=(3x+19)^\circ

10x-23=3x+19

Isolating variable terms, we get

10x-3x=23+19

7x=42

Divide both sides by 7.

x=\dfrac{42}{7}

x=6

Now,

m\angle RUV=(10x-23)^\circ

m\angle RUV=(10(6)-23)^\circ

m\angle RUV=(60-23)^\circ

m\angle RUV=37^\circ

And,

m\angle TUV=(3x+19)^\circ.

m\angle TUV=(3(6)+19)^\circ

m\angle TUV=(18+19)^\circ

m\angle TUV=37^\circ

Now,

m\angle RUT=m\angle RUV+m\angle TUV

m\angle RUT=37^\circ+37^\circ

m\angle RUT=74^\circ

We know that opposite angles of a rhombus are equal.

m\angle RST=m\angle RUT

m\angle RST=74^\circ

Therefore, the measure of angle RST is 74^\circ.
