The Andes mountain range is located in the <u>western part of South America</u>, contouring the Pacific Ocean coast and part of the Caribbean Sea.
The Andes is the longest mountain range on Earth with the record of having the highest volcanoes on the planet.
Its surface is so extensive that it covers seven countries: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru (running north to south in the middle of its territory), Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.
A biggie: the transcontinental railroad. Because it would economically improve wherever it was, both the North and the South competed for the railroad to be in their respective territory, evidenced by the Kansas-Nebraska Act and the Gadsen Purchase and induction of California as a free state in 1860.
In addition: people could get land cheap because it was abundant and might leave to start afresh economically.

Well its all due to Green house gasses produced through factories and automobiles, with the abundance of the world, driving, fly, and burning gas and oil on the whim we are playing a major role in this and unless a new technology that can surpass oil and natural gas we are slowly killing ourselves and the world.
