Dy/dt = dy/dx * dx/dt
dy/dx = 6x^2 - 4
when x = 1, dy/dx = 6 - 4 = 2

dy/dt = 2 * 4 = 8.

This problem uses the chain rule.

y = f(x), then dy/dt = f'(x) * dx/dt.y = 2x^3 - 4x
dy/dt = (2(3)x^2 - 4) * dx/dt = (6x^2 - 4) * dx/dt
Since dx/dt = 4 and x = 1,
dy/dt = (6(1)^2 - 4)(4) = 8.

Answer:

2

Step-by-step explanation:

We can set up equation for this one.

Let's say the number is X.

the sum of X and 14 can be expressed as : X+14

five times the sum of X and 14 can be expressed as 5(x+14)

and 5(X+14) = 80

5(x+14) = 80\\x+14 = 80 \div 5 = 16\\x = 16-14 = 2

The number  is 2

A sock drawer contains 5 different colors of socks. it has 20 white, 10 black, 6 red, and 4 purple. if you reach into the drawer
tia_tia [17]

The probability of selecting a black sock is 1/4.

What is the required probability?

The area of mathematics known as probability deals with numerical representations of the likelihood that an event will occur or that a statement is true. An event's probability is a number between 0 and 1, where, roughly speaking, 0 denotes the event's impossibility and 1 denotes certainty. It is more likely that an event will occur if its probability is higher.

Number of white socks=20

Number of black socks=10

Number of red socks=6

Number of purple socks=4

Total number of socks=20+10+6+4

                                     =40

Probability of getting a black sock=Number of black socks/Total number of socks

                                                         =10/40

                                                         =1/4

Please help!!
Allushta [10]

We know that

AB = 10x + 4

BC = 4x - 3

AC = 12x + 16

We need to find x, AB and BC.

The solution of the question is based on the assumption that the point A, B and C are col-linear, i.e. they lie on the same line, and B lies between A and C

⇒ AB + BC = AC

Substituting the values of AB, BC and AC in terms of x in the above equation, and solving the linear equation.

⇒ 10x+4 + 4x-3 = 12x+16

⇒ 14x+1 = 12x+16

⇒ 2x = 15

⇒ x = 7.5

Substituting the value of x in 10x+4 to determine the length of AB

AB = 10x+4

⇒ AB = (10×7.5)+4

⇒ AB = 75+4

⇒ AB = 79

Hence, AB is 79 units

Substituting the value of x in 4x-3 to determine the length of BC

BC = 4x-3

⇒ BC = (4×7.5)-3

⇒ BC = 30-3

⇒ BC = 27

Hence, BC is 27 units
