For this case we have the following line equations:3x + 7y = 15\\7x-3y = 6

We manipulate the equations algebraically until we write them in the slope-intersection form,y = mx + b:

Equation 1:

3x + 7y = 15\\7y = -3x + 15\\y = - \frac {3} {7} x + \frac {15} {7}

Equation 2:

7x-3y = 6\\-3y = -7x + 6\\y = \frac {-7} {- 3} x + \frac {6} {- 3}\\y = \frac {7} {3} x-2

By definition we have:

If two lines are parallel then their slopes are equal.

If two lines are perpendicular then the product of their slopes is -1.

It is noted that the slopes are not equal. We check if the product is -1:

- \frac {3} {7} * \frac {7} {3} = - \frac {3 * 7} {7 * 3} = \frac {-21} {21} = - 1

Thus, the lines are perpendicular.

Answer:

The lines are perpendicular

1. \frac{n}{4}

2. -2+5n or 5n-2

3. (12s)+150 where s=number of students

4. 3(32)+1(53)=96+53=159 per hour, so 159h

9. √105 is irrational, -4 is an integer, 4/3 is a rational number, order is -4,3/4, √105

10. 3²=9, 4²=16, so between 3 and 4, but closer to 4, so √14≈4

11. that is the associative property, it deals with moving parentahees around

12. 2(6.25)+1(5.50)+2(2.75)=2(6.25+2.75)+1(5.50)=2(9)+5.5=18+5.5=23.5

13. yes, because they are both 2 less than 3 times of a number

14. maybe 18 times 3, so (4²+2) times 3=54

Distribute ^4 to both 2 and q^5

2^4 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16
(q^5)^4 = q^20

16(q^20) = 16q^20

16q^20 is your answer

hope this helps
