History

A democracy and a dictatorship are two totally different types of societies, having differences at pretty much every level.

In a democracy, the government is chosen through elections, where everyone eligible for voting has the chance to choose who will lead the country, while in a dictatorship there are no elections and the people don't have the right to choose who will lead them.

In a dictatorship, there is no freedom of speech, and if anyone tries it there are severe punishments, while in the democracy the freedom of speech is guaranteed by law and everyone has the right to express its personal opinion.

In a democratic society the mediums are free, so they can be objective or subjective by their own will and provide information for the people freely, while in a dictatorship the mediums are totally controlled by the government and they are told what they can and what they can't inform the people about.
