Circuit riding preachers. By far, the Methodists were the most accomplished at this task of traveling preachers, living out of their saddle bags 50 weeks each year. Their efforts eventually lead to the largest church in America by 1850. The circuit rider of circuit riders was Bishop Francis Asbury. For more on Asbury visit the website for the book series about Francis Asbury, www.francisasburytriptych.com. There you will find numerous articles, videos, pictures, and podcasts about Francis Asbury and his Biblical Cavalry. Enjoy.
