Answer:

To encourage older workers to retire so younger workers had more jobs available.

Explanation:

The Social Security Act is a law that was enacted in 1935 during the Presidency of Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of the New Deal. The law created both the Social Security program as well as insurance against unemployment. This program established an old-age program funded by payroll taxes in an attempt to provide funds to those in need, as well as encourage older workers to retire in order to have more jobs available for the young.

Which was a result of the election of 1896?
Feliz [49]

Americans began to see a link between farm problems and their own.

The Grange movement and the Populist Party had a strong influence on national politics. In 1896, the Republicans won the White House and the greatest number of seats in both the Senate and House of Representatives. But Democrats and Populists and additional smaller parties were not to be ignored. The People's Party (Populists) would eventually merge into the Democratic Party, and the Progressive movement got rolling in the early 20th century. Included on the Progressive agenda would be stronger support for the nation’s agricultural and working classes.
