Answer:

The graph on the first equation y>x+5 will be shaded above the line. The graph on the second. equation y< x+5 will be shaded below the line.

When y is less than (y<), then the graph is shaded below the line. if y is greater than,( y>) then it will be shaded above the line.

Hope this helps! Give a heart and brainlest if so!

joe weighs 20lbs.less yhantwice jeffs weight.if jeff would gain 10lbs.,then together they wouldweigh 250lbs. how much does each
masya89 [10]
So,

Let x represent Joe's weight and y represent Jeff's weight.

"Joe weighs 20 lbs. less than twice Jeff's weight."
x = 2y - 20

"If Jeff would gain 10 lbs., then together they would weigh 250 lbs."
(y + 10) + x = 250

We now have our two open sentences.
x = 2y - 20
(y + 10) + x = 250

Get rid of parentheses.
x = 2y - 20
x + y + 10 = 250

We will use Elimination by Substitution.
2y - 20 + y + 10 = 250

Collect Like Terms.
3y - 10 = 250

Add 10 to both sides.
3y = 260

Divide both sides by 3.
Jeff's\ weight = 86 \frac{2}{3} \ lbs.

Substitute again.
x = 2(86 \frac{2}{3} )-20

Multiply.
x = 173 \frac{1}{3} -20

Subtract.
Joe's\ weight = 153 \frac{1}{3}\ lbs.

Check.

"Joe weighs 20 lbs. less than twice Jeff's weight."
Jeff's weight times two is 173 and one-third.
20 lbs. less than that is 153 and one-third lbs. Check.

"If Jeff would gain 10 lbs., then together they would weigh 250 lbs."
86 and two-thirds + 10 = 96 and two-thirds.
96 and two-thirds + 153 and one-third equals 250 lbs. Check.

Joe's\ weight\ is\ 153 \frac{1}{3} \ lbs.
Jeff's\ weight\ is\ 86 \frac{2}{3} \ lbs.

Suppose that the concentration (measured in gm^-3) of nitrogen in the soil along a transect in moist tundra yields data points t
kap26 [50]

Answer:

The average concentration of nitrogen in the soil along  0 ≤ x ≤ 10 is y_{avg}=500.3 \:{\frac{g}{m^3} }

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the average concentration between two points a and b along a transect, we measure the concentration at equal distances. Assume that f(x) is a continuous function on [a, b]. The average value of f on the interval [a, b] is

f_{avg}=\frac{1}{b-a} \int\limits^b_a {f(x)} \, dx

To find the average concentration of nitrogen we have to take the integral over the entire range and then dividing by the distance covered in the study.

y_{avg}=\frac{1}{10-0}\int\limits^{10}_{0} {(673.8 - 34.7x)} \, dx  \\\\\mathrm{Apply\:the\:Sum\:Rule}:\quad \int f\left(x\right)\pm g\left(x\right)dx=\int f\left(x\right)dx\pm \int g\left(x\right)dx\\\\y_{avg}=\frac{1}{10-0}\int _0^{10}673.8dx-\int _0^{10}34.7xdx\\\\y_{avg}=\frac{1}{10-0}(6738-1735)\\\\y_{avg}=\frac{5003}{10}=500.3
