The allele for the hair pattern called widows peak is dominant over the allele for no widows peak. In a population of 1000 indiv

iduals, 510 show the dominant phenotype. How many individuals would you expect of each of the possible three genotypes for this trait?

510 individuals have a widows peak and there would be 2 possibilities. Everyone with a widows peak would have either the WW or Ww genotype. There would be a 25% chance of WW and a 25% chance of Ww. The other 490 people do not show the dominant phenotype meaning all of them share the genotype ww. This means there is a 50% chance of the ww genotype.

WW: 25% Chance
Ww: 25% Chance
ww: 50% Chance

Which part of a phospholipid is hydrophilic
natka813 [3]

Answer:

nonpolar fatty acid tails

The hydrophobic, or “water-fearing,” part of a phospholipid consists of its long, nonpolar fatty acid tails. The fatty acid tails can easily interact with other nonpolar molecules, but they interact poorly with water.

When hydrogen ions are decreased, is the pH higher or<br>lower?<br>wi<br>and for
Papessa [141]

Answer:

The overall concentration of hydrogen ions is inversely related to its pH and can be measured on the pH scale . Therefore, the more hydrogen ions present, the lower the pH; conversely, the fewer hydrogen ions, the higher the pH.

A specialized protein in saliva breaks up starch molecules in food into smaller chains of simple sugars. In this reaction, which
Anarel [89]

Answer:

option d, b, c

Explanation:

Starch molecules taken into the mouth from food substances are processed to an extent of 30% of its digestion. this is carried out by a specialized protein/ an enzyme that is present in the saliva; called  amylase or ptyalin. this enzyme acts on the substrate molecule which in this case is starch molecules and convert it into smaller chains of simple sugars that includes maltose and dextrin which is digested in the small intestine.

Suppose a population is carrying a condition controlled by two alleles: P (dominant) and p (recessive). Only homozygous individu
Virty [35]

<span>The answer is B. 72.25 percent.

The Hardy-Weinberg principle can be used:</span>

<em>p² + 2pq + q² = 1 </em>and <em>p + q = 1</em>

where <em>p</em> and <em>q</em> are the frequencies of the alleles, and <em>p²</em>, <em>q²</em> and <em>2pq</em> are the frequencies of the genotypes.

<span>The <em>p</em> allele (<em>q</em>) is found in 15% of the population:
q = 15% = 15/100
Thus, q = </span><span>0.15

To calculate the <em>P</em> allele frequency (<em>p</em>), the formula <em>p + q = 1</em> can be used:
If p + q = 1, then p = 1 - q
p = 1 - 0.15
Thus, </span><span>p = 0.85

Knowing the frequency of the <em>P</em> allele (<em>p</em>), it is easy to determine the frequency of the <em>PP </em>genotype (<em>p²</em>):
p² = 0.85² = 0.7225

Expressed in percentage, p² = 72.25%.</span>
