I hope this is correct,

It says the width is 60% of the rectangles length,

.60 • 40 = 24(Width)

Then to find out the area you just multiply the length times the width

24 • 40 = 960

Again hope this is correct.

The correct answer is:  [A]:  " 29.4 ft. "

___________________________________________________

Explanation:

Solve for "b" ; which is the "base" .

14.7 ft. = (1/2) * b ;

Multiply EACH SIDE of the equation by "2" ;

    to isolate "b" on one side of the equation;  & to solve for "b" ;

___________________________________________________

2 * { (1/2) b } = 2 * (14.7 ft) ;

to get:

b = 29.4 ft . ;
