Find the slope of a line that passes through points (-3, 5) and (1, 2)

Mathematics
1 answer:
Mashcka [7]3 years ago
3 0

Answer:

the slope is -3/4

Step-by-step explanation:

this is because you need to do rise/run not run/rise, you set it up as a table

x l y Then, you would just find the difference between the two x coordinates and the two y coordinates, and find whether they increase or decrease

-3,5 you can see that from -3 to postive 1 there

1,2 is an increase of 4. you can also see that from 5 to 2 there is a decrease of 3. The y and x point have to flop places to become rise/run and it shows that the slope is -3/4 :) i hope this helps

navik [9.2K]
X = number of days it would take Kate to paint the house by herself. .
x+5 = number of days it would take Jean to paint the house by herself.
Together, they paint the house in 6 days:
1/x + 1/(x+5) = 1/6
Multiply both sides by 6x(x+5)
6(x+5) + 6x = x(x+5)
12x + 30 = x^2 + 5x
x^2 − 7x − 30 = 0
therefore the answer is A.

Ivan and Tanya share £150 in the ration of 4:1
Zarrin [17]

Answer:

Money Ivan gets   extra = 120 - 30 (or 3x) = 90

Step-by-step explanation:

Ivan = 4x

Tanya = 1x

Total = 150

4x + x = 150

5x = 150 ;  x = 150 / 5 = 30

Ivan = 4x = 120

Tanya = 1x = 30

Money Ivan gets   extra = 120 - 30 (or 3x) = 90
