In that short story written by the well know novelist, John Steinbeck, the turtle hides in it´s shell when the woman makes herself aside trying not to  go through the turtle. This title is an allegory, where every written word has a symbolic meaning, and many US citizens consider it part of the anthology of american literature.

What are your thoughts about the world's largest mass extinction and how it may have led to the rise of dinosaurs? Explain.
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

Explanation:

More than 99 percent of all organisms that have ever lived on Earth are extinct. As new species evolve to fit ever changing ecological niches, older species fade away. But the rate of extinction is far from constant. At least a handful of times in the last 500 million years, 75 to more than 90 percent of all species on Earth have disappeared in a geological blink of an eye in catastrophes we call mass extinctions.

Though mass extinctions are deadly events, they open up the planet for new forms of life to emerge. The most studied mass extinction, which marked the boundary between the Cretaceous and Paleogene periods about 66 million years ago, killed off the nonavian dinosaurs and made room for mammals and birds to rapidly diversify and evolve.

n 1939, Marian had an atrocious experience with the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), who owned Constitutional Hall
Kazeer [188]

Answer:

The answer is B because  The context clue you would use if you did not know the meaning of the word atrocious is the fact that The D.A.R. was unsupportive of African American performers. One can assume that if the group is unsupportive that they would have made the experience extremely difficult for Marian Anderson.

He does, but his big, clumsy fingers start to mess it up, and she angrily tells him to let go. As she tries to get her hair away from Lennie, he becomes scared and holds on more tightly. When she begins to scream, Lennie covers her mouth with his hand. A struggle ensues — Lennie panicking and Curley's wife's eyes "wild with terror" — until her body flops "like a fish" and then she is still."</span>
