Cation and anion of Cr(CO3)3

Chemistry

Answer: Cation: Cr^{6+}

Anion: CO_3^{2-}

Explanation:

For formation of a neutral ionic compound, the charges on cation and anion must be balanced. The cation is formed by loss of electrons by metals and anions are formed by gain of electrons by non metals.

Here Chromium is having an oxidation state of +6 called as Cr^{6+} cation and carbonate CO_3^{2-} is a polyatomic anion with oxidation state of -2. Thus they combine and their oxidation states are exchanged and written in simplest whole number ratios to give neutral Cr(CO_3)_3.

The cations and anions being oppositely charged attract each other through strong coloumbic forces and form an ionic bond.

Chromium has a positive charge (it's a multivalent metal with multiple positive charges)

Carbonate has a negative charge (-2)

Chromium would be the cation, and carbonate would be the anion.

The diameter of a sphere is 4 centimeters. Which represents the volume of the sphere?
pishuonlain [190]

Answer:

V=25.133 cm^3

(Is 4 the diameter you were given? To get one of those answers, I think you May have put the wrong diameter)

Explanation:

Radius is diameter/2

R=4/2

R=2

Volume of a sphere=4/3πr3

V=4/3π(2)3

V=25.133 cm^3

C3Hg + 02 → CO2 + H2O
fredd [130]

Answer:

4

Explanation:

The following equation, which depicts the combustion of propane, is given in this question as follows:

C3H8 + 02 → CO2 + H2O

However, this equation is not yet BALANCED because the number of atoms of each element is not the same on the reactant and product side. To balance the equation, we make use of COEFFICIENT to ensure that the number of atoms of each element on both side correlates.

The balanced equation is as follows:

C3H8 + 502 → 3CO2 + 4H2O

Therefore, the coefficient for water (H2O) after balancing the equation is 4.
