Why did Portugal want to find a sea route to Asia?
Licemer1 [7]

Answer:

The main reason was due to trade, and because of the Ottoman Empire

Explanation:

So back in the day spices were greatly valued and India had a plethora of different countries to trade with. Then the Ottoman Empire came into existence, so every country that lived to the West of the Ottoman Empire could no longer travel by land and countries had to find sea routes. Vasco de Gama of Portugal was the first European to reach India by sea by sailing around the southern tip of Africa and all the way to India(Asia).
