A=<span>1/2</span>b<span>h for the triangles.
A=lw for the rectangles.

Then you just add it all up.

b=base
h=height
l=length
w=width
A=area</span>

A cylinder has a 12-inch diameter and is 15 inches tall. It is filled to the top with water. A 6-inch-diameter ball is placed wi
Tems11 [23]

The volume of the cylinder is the space occupied by the cylinder. The volume of the water in the cylinder is 1583.36266 in³.

<h3>What is the volume of a cylinder?</h3>

The volume of the cylinder is the space occupied by the cylinder. It is calculated with the help of the formula,

\text{Volume of the cyllinder}= \pi r^2h

As it is given that the diameter of the cylinder is 12 inches while the height of the cylinder is 15 inches, also, it has a ball of the diameter of 6 inches placed inside the cylinder, therefore, the volume of the water that is inside the cylinder is the difference in the volume of the cylinder and the volume of the spherical ball.

\text{Volume of the cyllinder}= \pi r^2h = \dfrac{\pi}{4}d^2 h

Substitute the values,

\begin{aligned}\text{Volume of the cyllinder}&= \dfrac{\pi}{4}d^2 h\\& = \dfrac{\pi}{4} \times (12^2) \times 15\\ &=1696.46\rm\ in^3\end{aligned}

Now, the volume of the ball is equal to the volume of the sphere therefore, the volume of the ball can be written as,

\text{Volume of the sphere} = \dfrac{4}{3}\pi r^3

                                  = \dfrac{4}{3}\pi r^3\\\\=  \dfrac{4}{3}\times \pi \times (3^3)\\\\= 113.097\rm\ in^3

Further, the volume of the water that is inside the cylinder can be written as,

The volume of water =  Volume of the cylinder - Volume of the sphere

                                   = 1696.46 - 113.097

                                   = 1583.36266 in³

Hence, the volume of the water in the cylinder is 1583.36266 in³.

Bottles of a popular cola drink are supposed to contain 300 ml of cola. There is some variation from bottle to bottle because th
Ksju [112]

Answer:

We conclude that the mean contents of cola bottles is more than or equal to the advertised 300 ml.

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that Bottles of a popular cola drink are supposed to contain 300 ml of cola. The distribution of the contents is normal with standard deviation of 3 ml.

A student who suspects that the bottler is under-filling measures the contents of six bottles. The results are: 299.4, 297.7, 301.0, 298.9, 300.2, 297.0

<u><em>Let </em></u>\mu<u><em> = mean contents of cola bottles.</em></u>

SO, Null Hypothesis, H_0 : \mu \geq  300 ml   {means that the mean contents of cola bottles is more than or equal to the advertised 300 ml}

Alternate Hypothesis, H_A : \mu < 300 ml   {means that the mean contents of cola bottles is less than the advertised 300 ml}

The test statistics that will be used here is <u>One-sample z test statistics</u> as we know about the population standard deviation;

                       T.S.  = \frac{\bar X -\mu}{\frac{\sigma}{\sqrt{n} } }  ~ N(0,1)

where, \bar X = sample mean contents of cola bottle = \frac{\sum X}{n} = 299.03 ml

            \sigma = population standard deviation = 3 ml

            n = sample of bottles = 6

So, <em><u>test statistics</u></em>  =  \frac{299.03-300}{\frac{3}{\sqrt{6} } }

                               =  -0.792

<em>Now at 5% significance level, the z table gives critical value of -1.6449 for left-tailed test. Since our test statistics is more than the critical value of z as -0.792 > -1.6449, so we have insufficient evidence to reject our null hypothesis as it will not fall in the rejection region due to which we fail to reject our null hypothesis.</em>

Therefore, we conclude that the mean contents of cola bottles is more than or equal to the advertised 300 ml.

Consider Michelle and Gladys, two neighbors who each earn the same salary. Gladys pays less in federal income taxes than Michell
goldenfox [79]

Sad to say it is likely D.  If you are in the United States, I wouldn't know what deductions are available, but here are some possibilities.

1. Gladys is a single Mom. She gets to deduct her child.

2. Gladys owns her own home and gets to deduct her municipal tax. Michelle is renting and may be able to deduct something but not as much.

3. Gladys gets to deduct medical expenses. Michelle does not.

4. Gladys has a travelling allowance that is deductible. Michelle does not.

5. Gladys goes to church and tithes. Michelle does not.

6. Gladys has a registered savings plan. Michelle does not.

The problem is that the two women might very well be in a different tax bracket when all the deductions are considered. That depends on how the US system works. I don't think you are supposed to choose A. All other things being equal, they should be in the same tax bracket.

I don't see how B would come about. Usually state is dependent on Federal (it is in Canada anyway).

C is definitely wrong unless the savings plan is registered. Any savings plan that produces dividends or interest that is not registered is taxable.
