Dr.Pratt is using a form of psychotherapy called Cognitive Therapy (CT). CT is a therapeutic approach belonging to the wider group of Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT). CT is based on the idea that the majority of our feelings are determined by our way of thinking. Depression is believed by many to be caused by faulty thoughts and beliefs. Therefore, the cognitive therapist tries to reset these beliefs and change how the patient interprets some events. These changes will also affect the emotional state of the patient.
