Compare and contrast Beowulf and his warriors with the warriors at Herot. How are they similar and different? How do their appea
Dominik [7]

The whole story of Beowulf and his warriors with the warriors at Herot are compared and contrasted as below.

How to compare and contrast?

In Beowulf, the main character who is Beowulf, sails to the Danes land in order for it to defeat a monster named Grendel. However, in the film titled "The 13th Warrior", the character that represents Beowulf is known as Buliwyf who sets out to defeat a race, not a single monster and its mother, the race of Wendols.

Now, despite the fact that their locations seem similar, they are different. The biggest discrepancy is the amount of battles. Beowulf contained three battles, while The 13th Warrior contained four battles. Beowulf defeats Grendel and then he goes underground into a cave to fight Grendel's mother and after fifty years in his hometown, he fights the dragon that destroys him.

Similarities between The 13th Warrior and Beowulf are;

When Ahmed and his men were attacked by the cannibalistic warriors in the large hut, and they fought with all their might trying to defeat the leader of the Wendols. In Beowulf, when the hero and warrior of the story, Beowulf fights and defeats Grendel in the mead-hall. We can see the similarities as both warriors were attacked in their own place.

Differences between The 13th Warrior and Beowulf are the religion and nationalities are;

Beowulf is Anglo-Saxon and Ahmed is Arabic. Beowulf, as mentioned, is Anglo-Saxon and Buliwyf is Swedish. Another difference between the two stories is the narration. Beowulf is told in third person while The 13th Warrior is told in first person.

Both leaders in Beowulf and The 13th Warrior have similar names. Beowulf, as we know, is Beowulf and in The 13th Warrior, the leaders name is Buliwyf, showing us evidence that The 13th Warrior was based on Beowulf. Beowulf slays the mother of Grendel while Buliwyf slays the mother of the Wendol, showing us more evidence that The 13th Warrior was based off of Beowulf.

The central idea in both Beowulf and The 13th Warrior is the same, an existence of an old race and the need for an epic hero. In both Beowulf and The 13th Warrior, there is an epic hero, an existence of an old race, and the need for the hero to save someone form the race.

Throughout The 13th Warrior and Beowulf, the warriors tend to show off their attributes and physical talents. The plot thickens in a different way, and is resolved differently also. The main characters are different, with similar goals, but different reasons for doing what they do. The central idea never changes, and is constant theme throughout both The 13th Warrior and Beowulf. The differences in the setup of the film and poem definitely outweigh the similarities of the plot and general concept are easily seen.

While broadcasting a football game, the announcer exclaimed, "I can't believe it. Carl James just scored End of exam a touchdown
goldenfox [79]
Option C is the best descripion. Ie Carl doesn’t score touchdowns very often Basically the announcer is offering us a view that he is quite surprised at how Carl has performed based on his previous form. We can assume this based on phrases such as 'I can't believe it' and 'That's right' which infer a statement which might not be believable.
