Answer: Student B will score in the top of the class.

Step-by-step explanation:

Here both the students of class A and B scored 87.

Therefore, the value of random variable for both class is, x = 87

According to the question, mean for the class A is,  \mu_1 = 78

And, standard deviation for class A, \sigma_1 = 5

Thus, the z-score for Class A,

z_1 = \frac{x-\mu_1}{\sigma_1}

z_1 = \frac{87-78}{5} = 9/5 = 1.8

And, z_1(1.8)=0.9641

Also, mean for the class B is,  \mu_2 = 76

And, standard deviation for class B, \sigma_2 = 4

Thus, the z-score for Class B,

z_2 = \frac{x-\mu_2}{\sigma_2}

z_2 = \frac{87-76}{4} = 11/4 = 2.75

z_2(2.75)=0.9970

Thus, z_2 > z_1

Therefore, student B scored in the top 10% of their class.

On January 1, Mindy’s automobile mileage reading was 19,496. On December 31, the reading was 39,835. To the nearest hundred mile
lys-0071 [83]
Well all you have to do is subtract 19,496 from 39,835. 39,835-19,496=20340 now you have to round to the nearest hundred. Your answer would be 20,300 miles

As part of a school contest, Sarah and Luis are playing a math game. Sarah must pick a number between 1 and 50 and give Luis clu
RSB [31]
Simple, writing an equation,

(x-5)*4+7=35

multiply the 4 in

4x-20+7=35

4x-13=35

add 13 to the other side

4x-13=35
     +13  +13
4x=48

x=12.

The number is 12. But to check it, substitute the 12 into the equation.

(12-5)*4+7=35

(7)*4+7=35

28+7=35

35=35.

Thus, your answer is , the number is 12.
