Answer:

False

Explanation:

The law of independent assortment states that characters are inherited independently of one another. That is, for example, genes A and B are inherited independently without any interference of A on B or B on A.

Independent assortment occur in genes that are not linked together on the same chromosome. More specifically, two genes on the same chromosome will assort independently provided there is a certain minimum distance between them.

Hence, independent assortment has nothing to do with whether a gene is homozygous or heterozygous.

The answer is false.

Answer:

False

Explanation:

Gregor Mendel, who was referred to as the FATHER OF GENETICS, discovered the principles that governs heredity. One of those principles which he called LAW OF INDEPENDENT ASSORTMENT states that the alleles of a gene randomly segregates into gametes independently of the alleles of another gene. This means that during gamete formation (meiosis), the separation of the alleles of one gene doesn't affect the separation of the alleles of another gene.

Mendel discovered this principle when he worked with two genes that was responsible for two distinct characters. Hence, in a cell that contains two genes responsible for two different characters in the organism, independent assortment will always occur during gamete formation. Although, in an organism that is homozygous for both traits (AABB or aabb), only one type of allelic combination will be produced in the gamete. However, the alleles will still randomly align and separate independently of one another during Metaphase and Anaphase stages of meiosis.

Describe how water goes through the hydrologic cycle, starting and ending with ocean water.
Lady bird [3.3K]

Evaporation of warm surface water increases the amount of moisture in the colder, drier air flowing immediately above the lake surface. With continued evaporation, water vapor in the cold air condenses to form ice-crystal clouds, which are transported toward shore.

By the time these clouds reach the shoreline, they are filled with snowflakes too large to remain suspended in the air and consequently, they fall along the shoreline as precipitation. The intensity of lake effect snowfall can be enhanced by additional lifting due to the topographical features (hills) along the shoreline. Once the snow begins to melt, the water is either absorbed by the ground and becomes groundwater, or goes returns back to the lake as runoff.

Lake effect snow events can produce tremendous amounts of snow. One such event was the Cleveland, Ohio Veteran's Day Snowstorm from November of 1996, where local storm snowfall totals exceeded 50 inches over two to three days.

A Summary of the Hydrologic Cyclebringing all the pieces together
Animation by: BramerThe hydrologic cycle begins with the evaporation of water from the surface of the ocean. As moist air is lifted, it cools and water vapor condenses to form clouds. Moisture is transportedaround the globe until it returns to the surface as precipitation. Once the water reaches the ground, one of two processes may occur; 1) some of the water may evaporate back into the atmosphere or 2) the water may penetrate the surface and become groundwater. Groundwater either seeps its way to into the oceans, rivers, and streams, or is released back into the atmosphere through transpiration. The balance of water that remains on the earth's surface is runoff, which empties into lakes, rivers and streams and is carried back to the oceans, where the cycle begins again.Lake effect snowfall is good example of the hydrologic cycle at work. Below is a vertical cross-section summarizing the processes of the hydrologic cycle that contribute to the production of lake effect snow. The cycle begins as cold winds (horizontal blue arrows) blow across a large lake, a phenomena that occurs frequently in the late fall and winter months around the Great Lakes.

Multiple Choice Which of the following is true about photosynthesis? A. It is an exothermic reaction. B. It is an endothermic re
Nonamiya [84]

Answer:

The answer is B. It is an endothermic reaction.

Explanation:

Photosynthesis in an endothermic reaction. Endothermic reactions are all those chemical reactions that in their transformation process, in 2 or more different substances, consume Caloric Energy, in which, the products obtained possess higher energy levels, than the initial reagents, since they have taken part of the heat of the environment.

The diagram shows a bacterial cell dividing. What is an ADVANTAGE of this type of reproduction?
Naddika [18.5K]
(Sorry if this is late)

The answer to this is B because it is the only answer choice that is true.

This is actually a quick process, making A incorrect.

C is incorrect because there are no different genes to combine with, since there is only ONE parent cell.

D is incorrect because the offspring are clones. They haven't adapted at all.

Have an awesome day! :)
