Mitosis, you see, is somatic (body) cell division, and the DNA in the nucleus during Interphase can replicate by doubling the chromosomes before the actual mitosis or cell division process of splitting into TWO identical cells (and they function the same with the same number of identocal chromosomes too! So they are called Diploid cells with 46 chromosomes!)

Meiosis is sperm/egg division and must divide twice to produce FOUR sperm or egg cells. Sperm goes through I- PMAT just like mitosis, but goes through PMAT again after that! They create four Haploid gametes (sex cells) with 23 chromosomes so that when an egg and a sperm unite in sexual reproduction, the zygote (fertilized egg) will have exactly 46 chromosomes like the normal number of chromosomes in a somatic cell. ^^

High salinity and drought conditions may both cause Arabidopsis plants to become:
Sever21 [200]

Answer:

Option-D

Explanation:

Arabidopsis is a model organism plant used by scientists all over the world to study the genetic mutations and the effect of various factors on the plant.

In the given case, it has been mentioned that the plants were growing in the drought or no water conditions and the high salinity or high salt conditions.

The high salt condition interferes with the absorption of other nutrients whereas, in less water condition, the loss of water from the plant not equals the absorption as a result of which the plant dehydrates.

Thus, Option-D is correct.

A pair of mice are bred several times generating the following data table. What are the most likely genotypes of the parents?
Allisa [31]

Answer:

One parent is hybrid, one is recessive

Explanation:

If you do the punnet square, you will notice that there are two outcomes, and that they have a similar proportion, this is only possible if you math a recessive mouse (lets say the recessive allele is white), and a hybrid, that will show the dominant trait (lets say that black is dominant).

So: P=black and p=white

Pp x pp=

2/4 Pp(looks black) and 2/4 pp (looks white)
