Boycotts are refusal from a group of people to buy something, or make use of something, because of social, or ethical motivation.

For example, two famous boycotts in history occurred during the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympics, when the United States and its allies refused to participate, and in the Los Angeles Summer Olympics four years later, when the Soviet Union and its allies refused to participate. Both refusals, out of political motivations.

Boycotts are an economic tool, that includes a large group of people (the more people boycott something, the more likely the boycott is succesful), and are nonviolent, legal practices.
