When scientists uncover a fossil, they record the precise location where the fossil was found. Does this location provide useful

evidence for conclusions about the fossil and evolutionary processes?
A. Yes. Patterns in the distributions of fossils and living species are useful evidence of evolution.
B. No. Evidence for evolution comes only from body structures, not the environment of organisms.
C. Yes. Evolution occurs only in certain locations on Earth, and not others. D. No. Fossils and living species are distributed evenly across all of Earth's land and water.

Answer:

A. Yes. Patterns in the distributions of fossils and living species are useful evidence of evolution.

Explanation:

 • Data shows that presence or the absence of the continents and the islands provides evidence of the descent and shows us the specification of species.
 • As the same species would be found in the same habitats that are capable of supporting a particular species in a geographical area as Africa or South America.
 • Evidence have also been found in Australia that has marsupials like the kangaroos and quills that were not present in Africa and in small numbers in south America.
 • Similarly, the fossils are found in areas know adjacent to each other and through the process of the continental drift, they diverged in wide geographical areas.

Which sugar is present in the nucleic acid that is represented in the diagram?
S_A_V [24]

Answer:

either deoxyribose or ribose

Explanation:

i can't see the diagram, but-

 • if the diagram shows a single stranded chain of rna, then the answer is ribose
 • if the diagram shows a double stranded chain of dna, then the answer is deoxyribose
 • uracil and thymine are nucleic acids, not sugars/carbohydrates

Explain why the precise length target DNA sequence doesn't get amplified until the third cycle. You may need to use additional p
shusha [124]

When you start the PCR amplification reaction, you have a template which has sequences where the primers will anneal. The forward primer anneals in the sense strand and the reverse one in the complementary sequence (see attached figure).

After the first PCR cycle, two types of fragments are obtained. First those which come from tha 5'-3' sequence, that are 3'-5' and will anneal the reverse primer in the following cycle. This fragments have the correct 3' end, but the 5' includes part of the template that doesn't correspond to our target (see attached figure)

Second, those fragments that come from the 3'-5' sequence, that are 5'-3' and will anneal the forward primer. This fragments also have the correct 3' end, but the 5' includes part of the template that doesn't correspond to our target (see attached figure).

Now, during the second cycle, are produced the first fragments that have the precise length of the sequence that we want to amplify (see attached figure).

So, it's not until the third cycle that the reaction starts amplifying exactly the sequence of desired length.
