What William Lloyd Garrison did to oppose slavery, and promote the abolition of slavery, was: first, he started an openly pro-abolitionist newspaper called The Liberator, in 1830, and second, he became one of the founders of the New England Anti-Slavery Society in 1832. With these two actions, William Lloyd Garrison, born in 1805 and died in 1879, became known as a journalist crusader completely committed to the achievement of the abolition of slavery in the United States and he continuously, and without fear, denounced the U.S Constitution as a document that furthered slavery.
