For this case we have that by definition, an equation of the second degree is given by:

ax ^ 2 + bx + c = 0

We have the following equation:

0.3x ^ 2 + 5x-7 = 0

Then, according to the definition above, we have to:

a = 0.3\\b = 5\\c = -7

Thus, b equals 5.

Answer:

b = 5

ddd [48]
What is the quotient of 5/8 and 20?Quotient is the term used to name the answer of the 2 or more digits being divided with each other.Now, we have 2 different numbers. A fraction and a whole number.First thing to do is to convert 5/8 to decimal number.=> 5 / 8 = 0.625Now, we have 2 numbers that needs to be divided.=> 20 as our dividend and 0.625 as our divisor=> 20 / 0.625 = 32<span>32 is the quotient when you divide 5/8 by 20</span>

Cost of each bags of flour = $2.50

Cost of each bags of butter = $3.75

Solution:

Let f be the bags of flour and b be the pounds of butter.

Cost of 20 bags of flour 16 pound of butter = 110

⇒ 20f + 16b = 110 -------------------- (1)

Cost of 30 bags of flour 12 pound of butter = 120

⇒ 30f + 12b = 120  -------------------- (2)

Equation (1) and (2) are the system of equations.

(2) ⇒ 30f + 12b = 120

Subtract 30f from both sides.

⇒ 12b = 120 – 30f

Divide by 12 on both sides.

$\Rightarrow b =\frac{120-30f}{12}  -------------------- (3)

Substitute (3) in (1).

$20f+16\left(\frac{120-30f}{12}\right)=110

$20f+4\left(\frac{120-30f}{3}\right)=110

$20f+4(40-10f)=110

$20f+160-40f=110

Subtract 160 from both sides.

$-20f=-50

Divide by –20, we get

$f=\frac{5}{2}

f = 2.50

Substitute f = 2.5 in equation (3), we get

$\Rightarrow b =\frac{120-30(2.50)}{12}

$b=\frac{15}{4}

b = 3.75

Cost of each bags of flour = $2.50

Cost of each bags of butter = $3.75
