Many people believed that the African americans were not allowed to have an education such as learning how to read or simple as learning the Alphabet. The south believed in many rumors spread abound by the whites. most African Americans would get 100 lashes because they wanted to escape and go towards the North due to the Northern star. As soon As Abraham Lincoln had his 2nd term as president, He signed the Proclamation which banned slavery across The united states and all slaves were freed.
