Six students measure the acceleration (in meters per second ) of an object in free fall. The measured values are: 10.56, 9.52, 9

.73, 9.80, 9.78, 10.91. The students want to state that the absolute deviation of each measured value x from the mean is at most d. Find the value of d.

The value of d is 0.86

<u><em>Explanation</em></u>

The measured values are......

10.56,  9.52,  9.73,  9.80,  9.78,  10.91

As there are total 6 values, so the <u>Mean(</u>μ<u>)</u> will be: \frac{10.56+9.52+9.73+9.80+9.78+10.91}{6}= \frac{60.3}{6}=10.05

The <u>absolute deviation</u> of each measured value x from the mean(μ) is:  |x-\mu|

Thus.....

|10.56-10.05|= 0.51\\ |9.52-10.05|= 0.53\\ |9.73-10.05|= 0.32\\ |9.80-10.05|= 0.25\\ |9.78-10.05|= 0.27\\ |10.91-10.05|= 0.86

So, the greatest absolute deviation from the mean is 0.86 here. That means, d=0.86

-5a + 15/2a - 25 = 53.2 + 21.8
dedylja [7]

Answer:

a= 40

Step-by-step explanation:

-5a + 7.5a - 25 = 53.2 + 21.8

add like terms on both sides: 2.5a - 25 = 75

add 25 on both sides: 2.5a = 100

divide both sides by 2.5: a = 40

Jordan was given the expression 2x2^-3 x 2^-5 How should he write the expression as a fraction? Describe the exponent rules Jord
mariarad [96]

Answer:

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{1}{128}

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5}

Required

Write as a fraction

To do this, Jordan has to apply the following rules

<u>Negative Exponent rule:</u>

a^{-m} = \frac{1}{a^m}

<u>So, the expression is:</u>

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} = \frac{2}{2^3 * 2^5}

<u>To solve further, we apply the product rule of exponent</u>

a^m * a^n = a^{m+n}

<u>So, the expression is:</u>

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{2}{2^{3+5}}

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{2}{2^8}

<u></u>

<u>Evaluate the exponents</u>

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{2}{256}

<u>Divide the numerator and denominator by 2</u>

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{2/2}{256/2}

2*2^{-3} * 2^{-5} =\frac{1}{128}
