A nut mixture of peanuts and pecans at a small fair is $1.00 per pound of peanuts and $4.25 per pound of pecans. Over the entire

day, 115 pounds of the nut mixture was sold for $358.75. If p is the number peanuts and n is the number of pecans, then the system of equations that models this scenario is: p+n=115p+4.25n=358.75 Determine the correct description and amount of pounds for peanuts and pecans that were sold.

Hello!

You can solve this algebraically

p + n = 115

p + 4.25n = 358.75

Subtract the two equations to eliminate p

-3.25n = -243.75

Divide both sides by -3.25

n = 75

Put n into the first equation

p + 75 = 115

Subtract 75 from both sides

p = 40

The answers are,

40 pounds of peanuts were sold
75 pounds of pecans were sold

Hope this helps!

The pyramid shown has a square base that is 24 centimeters on each side. The slant height is 16 centimeters. What is the lateral
Aleksandr-060686 [28]
Check the picture below.

the "lateral" area, or "sides" area, is just the area of all the four triangular faces, and it doesn't include the bottom or base of the pyramid.

however, notice, each triangular face is really just a triangle with a base of 24, and a height of 16.

Y equals equation for the line that passes through the points (-6,2) and (1,16)
8_murik_8 [283]

Slope-intercept form:  y = mx + b

[m is the slope, b is the y-intercept or the y value when x = 0  --->  (0, y)  or the point where the line crosses through the y-axis]

To find the slope, you use the slope formula:

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}       And plug in the two points

(-6, 2)  =  (x₁ , y₁)

(1, 16)  =  (x₂ , y₂)

m=\frac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}

m=\frac{16-2}{1-(-6)}     [two negatives cancel each other out and become positive]

m=\frac{16-2}{1+6}

m=\frac{14}{7}

m = 2       Now that you found m, plug it into the equation

y = mx + b

y = 2x + b        To find b, plug in one of the points into the equation

(-6, 2)

y = 2x + b

2 = 2(-6) + b

2 = -12 + b          Add 12 on both sides

14 = b

(1, 16)

y = 2x + b

16 = 2(1) + b          Subtract 2 on both sides

14 = b

Now that you found b, plug it into the equation

y = 2x + 14
