“In diffusion, particles move from an area of higher concentration to one of lower concentration until equilibrium is reached. In osmosis, a semipermeable membrane is present, so only the solvent molecules are free to move to equalize concentration.”

Answer:

Diffusion is defined as the motion of a particle (substance) from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration. It takes place in the case of both liquids as well as gases. It is because the particles present in the liquid and gas move randomly from one place to another. It plays a significant role in the body of living organisms because, with the help of this process, the substances are allowed to enter and eliminate out of the cells.

Osmosis is defined as the movement of water (fluid), through a membrane that is semi-permeable in nature (as in the case of a living cell) into a solution that is comprised of a comparatively higher concentration of solute, thereby balancing the solute concentrations on both sides of the membrane.

Leni [432]

Answer:

Reciprocal altruism is one of the altruism behaviors in which an individual organism helps in increasing the fitness of another organism by reducing the fitness of itself temporarily in expectation of the same behavior from another organism in the future later.

It takes place in the same set of organism partners which is a continuous interaction ion in stable groups of organisms.

Thus, the correct answer would be - an ongoing interaction in the same set of partners.

What does random mean and how does it apply to genetics?
Darya [45]
The simplest answer would be to look at a punnet square. it gives you the random chance that a trait gets passed on to offspring. it's made off probability of dominant and recessive genes. But it's random in the end.

What is the best example of how the nervous system maintains homeostasis?
Blizzard [7]
I'm not sure if it's the "best" example but.

If your blood tempature is low, the hypothalamus will issues reflex commands that make your body shiver. If you are hot, you will sweat is the opposite of this.

Another example is, if your blood contains pyrokines then you might have an infection so you begin to run a fever as your body's way to kill the pathogen at the direction of the hypothalamus.

Hope these examples help!
