Percents are just parts of an whole. Percentages are an important part of our everyday lives. Percentage is a very handy way of writing fractions. Percentages can be compared more easily than fractions.Some example are:<span><span><span>Shops advertise discounts on products.  These discounts are percentages.
"Up to 50% off marked prices"</span><span>Financial institutions quote interest charged to the client on loans, or interest paid for money invested, as a percentage.

</span><span>"Housing Loans-4.95% p.a. for the first 12 months"

</span><span>Interest paid may be as Simple Interest or Compound Interest.</span><span>Companies describe their success or failure as an increase or decrease in profit levels.

</span><span>"C-Company profit down by 15% for the last financial year"</span><span>A salesperson may be given a commission as payment for selling goods.  </span>The commission can be a percentage of the sales made.<span>
"Position Vacant:  20% commission on all sales to the successful applicant." </span>Articles such as antiques or jewellery may increase in value as time goes by-appreciation. Items such as equipment and machinery usually decrease in value-depreciation</span></span>

Find the diagonal of a television screen 30 inches wide by 35 inches tall.
marin [14]

Answer:

46.1 in

Step-by-step explanation:

Given data

Width= 30in

Height= 35in

To find the diagonal, we have to use the Pythagoras theorem

z^2= x^2+y^2

z^2= 30^2+ 35^2

z^2= 900+1225

z^2= 2125

z= √2125

z= 46.09

Hence the diagonal of the TV is 46.1 in

Find 15 * 15 * 15 * 500 how does this compare to finding 45 x 500
andrew11 [14]
15 * 15 * 15 * 500 = 1,687,500. it's different from finding 45 * 500 because
15 * 15* 15 * 500 is the same as writing it as 15^3 * 500. This meaning you multiply the number 15 by itself 3 times, not add it 3 times, which is what
45 * 500 was showing. I hope this helped.
