Connective tissue is a tissue with the function of connection, derived from the mesoderm. It is found in between other tissues everywhere in the body where it supports and binds them. Connective tissue consist of a ground substance, fibers, and cells. It ypically has cells that are scattered throughout an extracellular matrix of fibrous proteins and glycoproteins which are attached to a basement membrane.
