Cellular respiration project: analyzing cellular respiration.!! In this assignment, you will gather evidence to construct an exp

lanation on how energy and matter move through the environment under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. You will then conduct additional guided research to revise your explanation based on the new information you discover. BACKGROUND INFORMATION Cellular respiration is a process that allows organisms to produce energy to maintain life. The process involves a series of chemical reactions that use glucose and oxygen to produce carbon dioxide, water, and the high energy molecule, ATP. Organisms, including plants, undergo cellular respiration to create energy that they can use to maintain life processes. Cellular respiration may be aerobic, a type of respiration that requires oxygen, or anaerobic, a type of respiration that can occur in an environment with no or minimal oxygen.

Answer:

Energy and matter are inter-convertible.

Explanation:

Energy and matter are inter-convertible and move through the environment under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Most of the organisms used aerobic respiration for the production of energy and this energy is produced due to the break down of glucose which is a matter and this matter is converted into energy. Respiration is energy releasing process while photosynthesis is process in which food is manufactured which is then used for obtaining energy. n aerobic conditions, oxygen is used to produce high amount of energy while anaerobic respiration occurs when oxygen is absent and very less amount of energy is produced. The product of respiration is carbondioxide, water and energy. This carbondioxide is used again in the process of photosynthesis in plants to prepare food and this food is used again in the respiration for releasing energy.

In addition to carbon, carbonate minerals contain
shutvik [7]
Carbonate groups contain a single carbon atom, and three oxygen atoms in a trigonal molecular geometry. The carbon atom has two single bonds to two oxygen atoms and a double bond to the third oxygen atom. Therefore, in addition to carbon, carbonate minerals contain oxygen. An example of a carbonate mineral is calcium carbonate, often found within rocks.

Which enzyme(s) involved in fatty acid synthesis utilize ATP? Select all that apply.
GREYUIT [131]

Answer:

a. Acetyl CoA carboxylase

Explanation:

Much of the fatty acids used by the body is supplied by the diet, excessive amounts of carbohydrates and protein obtained from the diet can be converted to fatty acids and stored as triglycerides. Fatty acid synthesis occurs mainly in the liver and mammary glands, and to a lesser extent in adipose tissue and kidney, the process incorporates acetyl CoA carbons into the forming fatty acid chain using ATP and NADPH.

The acetyl portion of acetyl CoA is transported to cytosol as citrate, produced by condensation of oxaloacetate and acetyl CoA, the first reaction of the citric acid cycle, this occurs when the concentration of mitochondrial citrate is high, observed when there is a high concentration of ATP and isocitrate dehydrogenase is inhibited.  The increase of citrate and ATP favors the synthesis of fatty acids, since this pathway needs both. Acetyl CoA should be converted to malonyl CoA. Carboxylation is catalyzed by acetyl CoA carboxylase and requires ATP, this reaction is the regulated step in fatty acid synthesis: it is inactivated by products, malonyl CoA and palmitoyl CoA, and activated by citrate, another regulatory mechanism is reversible phosphorylation of enzyme, which makes it inactive due to the presence of adrenaline / glucagon
