Answer:

After reading this excerpt, I would say that <em>the speaker is amazed by America</em> and that <em>he and his father don't feel comfortable with that feeling because they know deep down inside that they don't belong there.</em>

Explanation:

I think it is pretty clear how amazed the speaker is by America when he says: "<em>We stood awhile, </em><em>marveling at America</em>", but somthing inside is still making him feel sad inside, and that shows when he says: "<em>both of us trying hard to feel luckier  than we felt</em>". This sad feeling the speaker and his father had I think it is because they loved that place, but still felt they were visitors there, they didn't feel America as their home. This is very clear when the speaker says: "<em>when we backed away, we saw our reflections  / superimposed, big-eyed, dressed too formally  / with all due respect </em><em>as visitors to this country.</em>"

Charra [1.4K]

Answer:

A day before I presented the speech:

Dear Diary

Something very tragic has happened. My classmate passed away and he had a funeral. I was chosen to make a speech on behalf of my whole class. It was very hard for me. I didn't think anything like this would ever happen. But I was finally able to come up with the right words to describe how I felt.

A day after I presented the speech:

Dear Diary

I presented a speech on behalf of my whole class on my classmate's funeral. I still can't believe it. It was very hard for me. Everyone was crying and so emotional. I can't even imagine how much harder it was for people who were closest to my classmate who passed away. I can't even imagine what they were thinking at the funeral.

Answer:

Famous texts often have many similarities as it makes good discussions to find all the possible things that are very related to one another. These certain texts between "Romeo and Juliet" and "Pyramus and Thisbe" are almost so closely related, that there are infamous of resemblances that you can point out. This will make our thoughts deeper and more powerful towards both texts

In these two texts,a huge part that plays throughout both tales is the showing of miscommunication and misunderstandings

"Romeo and Juliet” are similar to “Pyramus and Thisbe” for three reasons; the lovers come from disagreeing families , the tales are both tragedy and they are based on misconception and ill-timing. Although these stories are painful, they are also true to human nature, and that is why they are so similar.

Moreover, both the plays"Pyramus and Thisbe" and "Romeo and Juliet", are characterized by strict parental control. The two stories are similar in nature because of the similar hardships that the principal characters go through before eventually passing on.

Which best states the central idea of the following passage
GaryK [48]

Answer:

If you're a teen who loves dogs, and you're looking to make a little extra money,  dog walking is certainly worth a look.

Explanation:

The central idea of any given passage is the main theme or point that the writer(s) wants to relay in it. This allows the most important idea or main ideas to be expressed and presents the main topic of what the whole passage is really about.

In the given passage, the author talks about how young people, especially teenagers should look into the dog-walking' business instead of babysitting or shoveling snow for a little extra money. Dog walking, according to the author, is <em>"very fun and highly profitable" </em>and does not require much of anything except being familiar and like dogs. And so, <u>the central idea of the whole passage seems to be that teens who love dogs and would want to make a little extra money should go for the dog-walking business</u>.
