Peer pressure

What are peer pressure and its effects?

When you make a decision because you want to feel liked and respected by your friends, this is known as peer pressure or peer influence.

Peer pressure can be advantageous. For instance, your child might be persuaded to try new things, be more assertive, or become more interested in school.

However, it can also be harmful. Teenagers sometimes decide to attempt activities they wouldn't otherwise be interested in, like smoking or acting in an antisocial manner.

Teenagers who are subjected to peer pressure may:

 • Select the same hairstyle, jewelry, or clothes as their friends,
 • Listen to the same music or watch the same TV shows as their friends
 • Break rules or taking risks
 • Work harder at school or less hard
 • Date or engage in sexual activity
 • Smoke, use alcohol or other drugs

Why do we study how to recognize a bias in American Government? Does it help us become better-informed citizens? Explain
Artemon [7]

Answer:

- We need to study how to recognize a bias in American Government in order to understand that the legislation that are made by the government government sometimes influenced bu interest group, so it might only benefit a select few who have enough wealth to influence the government.

(For example, government decision to let nature exploitation might benefit a certain industry while hurting the people who live around them)

- Recognizing this will definitely help us become better-informed citizens. We can always see if the decisions made by the government actually benefit the ones who need it or a select few who doesn't necessarily need government help.
