Explain how seasonal fires benefit grassland ecosystems.

Biology
1 answer:
Soloha48 [4]3 years ago

Answer:

Without fires, there would be no life on Earth . Fires are key to maintaining the proper oxygen concentration in the atmosphere; fire regulates the carbon cycle and life, as we know it, is based precisely on carbon

Explanation:

Although we tend to think of fires as a human invention that kills plants, animals, people, fire, as with rain or wind, is an essential natural component, basic to maintain the planet's biodiversity.

As for example, grassland ecosystems are also benefited by the same fires that allow renewal, and generate natural sustainability on the earth through the carbon cycle.

Explain how the bacteria and animals around the hydrothermal vents showed scientists that life was much more adaptable than they
lisov135 [29]

Explanation:

Well, its extremely hot in the hydrothermal vents. Scientists simply believed it would be impossible for anything to survive due to the heat. Bacteria and micro-organisms were able to adapt to growing there, though. So in short words, they survived extreme conditions teaching scientists that life was quite adaptable.

Weird fun fact: In Switzerland it is illegal to own just one guinea pig. Felt the need to mention that ^ Sorry, I know it has nothing to do with the question but i felt it was worth speaking of.

A mating between a male donkey (2n = 62) and a female horse (2n = 64) produces sterile mules. why are mules sterile?
kirza4 [7]

The horse and donkey, though closely related by sharing a common ancestor, are different species. They have different number of chromosomes hence pairing of homologous chromosomes during fusion of gametes becomes complicated. The mule will have an extra chromosome from the horse hence will have abnormalities such as sterility. A Mule is unable to reproduce due to this same phenomenon. Homologous chromosomes are not well paired for meiosis I.

If you were to expose cells that are undergoing aerobic cellular respiration to a radioactive oxygen isotope in the form of O2,
HACTEHA [7]

Answer:

Water

Explanation:

Molecular oxygen is the terminal electron acceptor and serves to receive electrons from reduced NADH and FADH2 to reoxidize them. NADH and FADH2 are formed during glycolysis and Kreb's cycle. These reducing powers should be re-oxidized to enter in the first two steps of aerobic respiration again.

For the purpose, NADH, and FADH2 transfer their electrons to the molecular oxygen via electron transport chain. After accepting the electrons, molecular oxygen is oxidized into the water molecule. Therefore, radioactive oxygen isotope would appear in the form of a water molecule after completion of cellular respiration.

Which of the following best characterizes an ecological footprint?
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

Option B

Explanation:

An economics footprint can be described as a measure of biological productivity.

Ecological footprints show a comparison of the rapidness of our resources consumption and waste generation to the rapidness of natural absorbing these wastes and also including our carbon emission.

Thus, one of the characteristics of ecological footprints is a measure of our biological productivity.
