A block slides down a ramp with friction. The friction experienced by the block is 21 N. The mass of the block is 8 kg. The ramp

is 6 meters long (meaning, the block slides across 6 meters of ramp with friction). The block is originally 2 meters vertically above the ground (the bottom of the ramp). What is the change in energy of the block due to friction, expressed in Joules

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

the change in energy of the block due to friction is  E = -126 \ J

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

    The  frictional force is  F_f  =  21 \ N

    The mass of the block is  m_b = 8 \ kg

    The length of the ramp is  l =  6 \ m

    The height of the block is  h = 2 \ m

The change in energy of the block due to friction is mathematically represented as

     \Delta E  =  - F_s  * l

The negative sign is to show that the frictional force is acting against the direction of the block movement

  Now substituting values

      \Delta E  =  -(21)*  6

      \Delta E = -126 \ J

A car of mass 875 kg is traveling 30.0 m/s when the driver applies the brakes, which lock the wheels. The car skids for 5.60 s i
AleksAgata [21]

Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the car, m = 875 kg

Initial speed of the car, u = 30 m/s

Brakes are applied i.e. v = 0

The car skids for 5.60 s in the positive x - direction before coming to rest, t = 5.6

(a) Acceleration of the car, a=\dfrac{v-u}{t}

a=\dfrac{0-30}{5.6}

a=-5.35\ m/s^2

(b) Force, F = ma

F=875\ kg\times -5.35\ m/s^2

F = -4681.25 N

So, the force of 4681.25 N is acting on the car.

(c) Let x is the distance covered by the car. So,

v^2-u^2=2ax

0-u^2=2ax

x=\dfrac{-u^2}{2a}

x=\dfrac{-(30\ m/s)^2}{2\times -5.35\ m/s^2}

x = 84.11 meters

So, the distance covered by the car is 84.11 meters. Hence, this is the required solution.

Identify the position where the cyclist has maximum kinetic energy.
finlep [7]
You need the picture. However, since I'm doing PLATO as well, here's the answer:

The third position in which the cyclist is going downhill is the position where the cyclist has the maximum kinetic energy. The other two photos show that the biker has more potential energy.

Thanks, let me know if this helped!
