Answer:

The correct answer is 21.

Step-by-step explanation:

To solve this problem, we simply substitute 3 for a in the expression.

Given the expression,

a^2 + 12

we should replace "a" with 3, as denoted by the problem, giving us:

(3)^2 + 12

Now, we simplify using the order of operations. PEMDAS tells us that we should simplify what is in the parentheses first because it has an exponent.

9 + 12

Now, we can just add the two remaining terms together, giving us:

21

Therefore, the answer is 21.

Hope this helps!

The difference between the observed value of the dependent variable and the value predicted using the estimated regression equat
Elenna [48]

Answer:

For this case we define the dependent variable as Y and the independent variable X. We assume that we have n observations and that means the following pairs:

(x_1, y_1) ,....,(x_n,y_n)

For this case we assume that we want to find a linear regression model given by:

\hat y = \hat m x +\hat b

Where:

\hat m represent the estimated slope for the model

\hat b represent the estimated intercept for the model

And for any estimation of the dependent variable \hat y_i , i=1,...,n is given by this model.

The difference between the observed value of the dependnet variable and the value predicted using the estimated regression equation is known as residual, and the residual is given by this formula:

e_i = y_i -\hat y_i , i=1,...,n

So the best option for this case is:

d. residual

For what values of x is x^2 + 2x = 24 true?
maw [93]

Answer:

x = -6, x = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1: Factor

Subtract 24 from both sides

x^2 + 2x- 24 = 24 - 24

x^2 + 2x - 24 = 0

Make two different x's

x^2 + 2x - 24 = 0

x^2 + 6x - 4x - 24 = 0

Make two different parenthesis

x^2 + 6x - 4x - 24 = 0

(x + 6)(x - 4) = 0

Step 2: Solve for x in both equations

x + 6 = 0

x + 6 - 6 = 0- 6

x = -6

x - 4 = 0

x - 4 + 4 = 0 + 4

x = 4

Answer: x = -6, x = 4

Contact [7]

Melissa's homeroom raised 63% of its goal for the school fundraiser. Matt's homeroom has raised 48%. Since it is a percentage of their goal, a situation in which Matts homeroom raised more money that Melissa's homeroom is when Matts goal is much bigger than melissas goal, so even if melissas has bigger percentage, matt has more money.

Example

Matts goal is 1000 so 1000*.48 = 480

Melissas goal is 500 so 500*.63 = 315

This question confuses me help please. :(
Charra [1.4K]

Hi!

First, find the total percent of vehicles with at least 3 people.

15% + 7% + 3% = 25%

Now find 25% of 420

Set up a proportion and cross multiply to solve.

\frac{x}{420} \frac{25}{100}

25 * 420 = 10500

10500/100 = 105

The answer is 105 vehicles contained at least 3 people.

Hope this helped! :)

Find the center and radius of the circle with the equation: (x-5)^2 + (y+1)^2 = 4 a. center: (-5, 1) radius: 4 c. center: (-5, 1
Lynna [10]

Answer:

d

Step-by-step explanation:

the equation of a circle in standard form is

(x - h)² + (y - k)² = r²

where (h, k ) are the coordinates of the centre and r is the radius

(x - 5 )² + (y + 1)² = 4 ← is in standard form

with centre (5, - 1 ) and r = \sqrt{4} = 2
