Explanation:

Sodium is a metal

Chlorine is a non-metal

They both form ionic bonds in between them and exhibit their characters.

A metal is an electropositive material with a large atomic radius.

A non-metal is an electronegative material.

In forming an ionic bond, a metal will donate its electron. The non-metals gains this lost electrons.

The metals becomes positively charged and the non-metals carry a negative charge.

The electrostatic force of attraction between them causes the formation of an ionic bond in between them.

What is the volume of a sample of CO2 at STP that has a volume of 75.0mL at 30.0°C and 91kPa
Nezavi [6.7K]

60.7 ml is the volume of a sample of CO2 at STP that has a volume of 75.0mL at 30.0°C and 91kPa.

Explanation:

Data given:

V1 = 75 ml

T1 = 30 Degrees or 273.15 + 30 = 303.15 K

P1 = 91 KPa

V2  =?

P2 = 1 atm or 101.3 KPa

T2 = 273.15 K

At STP the pressure is 1 atm and the temperature is 273.15 K

applying Gas Law:

\frac{P1VI}{T1}= \frac{P2V2}{T2}

putting the values in the equation of Gas Law:

V2 = \frac{P1V1T2}{P2T1}

V2 = \frac{91 X 75 X 273.15}{303.15 X 101.3}

V2 = 60.7 ml

at STP the volume of carbon dioxide gas is 60.7 ml.

How was the plum pudding model different from models that came after it
My name is Ann [436]

Plum-pudding model is different from the model that came after it as the Plum pudding model did not encounter the concept of nucleus it simply says compares atom with a pudding in which electrons are spread around as rasins in a pudding while the model that came after that is Rutherford's model  explain that the atom that having nucleus that serves as a center of the atom.

If you increase the solute amount but keep the solution volume the same what
solmaris [256]

Answer: Molarity increases

Explanation:

Molarity, also known as concentration in moles/dm3 or g/dm3, is calculated by dividing the amount of solute dissolved by the volume of solvent. So, Molarity (c) = amount of solute (n) / volume (v)

i.e c = n/v

Hence, molarity is directly proportional to the amount of solute dissolved, and inversely proportional to the volume of solvent.

Thus, at same volume, any increase in solute amount increases molarity while a decrease will also decreases molarity.

How do differences in temperature effect air masses?
laiz [17]

Answer:

The difference in temperature causes differences in air pressure between the two spots. ... This causes the jet stream to dip farther south and the winds to blow stronger on either side of the jet stream in winter. The jet stream separates the very cold air mass at higher latitudes from the warmer air mass equatorward.
