Atoms gain energy during evaporation and boiling

When a liquid begins to boil, it means its molecules and atoms are gaining increased kinetic energy and the molecules are getting further apart and the liquid is beginning to turn to gas.

Explanation:

Gas begins to form in the liquid and lift to the surface as bubbles and escaping into the atmosphere.  The vapor pressure of the liquid also overcomes the atmospheric pressure in this stage allowing the change of phase. This can only occur as long as the molecules and atoms of the liquid continue to gain energy. This is the reason that even though you keep heating the liquid, it remains at its boiling point temperature as it changes phase.  This energy is referred to as the latent heat of vaporization.

How does ATP supply energy for cellular activities? What do all cellular activities in living organisms use as a source of energy
Korolek [52]
  • ATP supplies energy for cellular activities by releasing one of the phosphate group in its molecule
  • Cellular activities in living organisms make use of ATP as source of energy

<h3>What is ATP?</h3>

ATP stands for Adenosine triphosphate and it is an energy carrier molecule in living cells of an organism.

The ATP molecule is made up of three components namely;

  • Nitrogenous base
  • 3 Phosphate groups
  • Five carbon sugar

The ATP molecule gains one phosphate group when it stores energy and loses one when it releases energy.

Answer:

Monomer: 2 - Amino acid

                 3 -Nucleotide

Polymer: 1 - Cellulose

               3 - Nucleic acids

Example: 1 - Carbohydrates

               2 -  Collagen

Function 1: Carbohydrates are a source of energy in the body.

Function 2: Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It's a long, fibrous structural protein that supports tissues and gives structure to individual cells. Collagen fibers are tough and found in bundles. They providing tensile strength to the tissues containing them.

Function 3: DNA is a protein structure that carries instructions needed for an organism to develop, survive and reproduce. It is a nucleic acid that contains the genetic instructions for the development and function of living things, its main role is the long-term storage of information

Explanation:

Monomers are single molecules that can bond with identical molecules to form polymers.

1. Glucose can combine with other glucose molecules to form starch or cellulose which results in formation of carbohydrates.

Carbohydrates are a source of energy in the body.

2. Amino acids can combine with other amino acids to form a protein chain which results in formation of collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body. It's a long, fibrous structural protein that supports tissues and gives structure to individual cells. Collagen fibers are tough and found in bundles. They providing tensile strength to the tissues containing them.

3. Nucleotides can combine to form nucleic acids resulting in formation of enzymes.
