Think of it this way...

How many times does 10 go into 100? The answer is 10 times. Right?

Now let's take that 10 and this time divide it by 100

You would move your decimal two places over to the LEFT since we are dividing (only move your decimal to the right if you are multiplying)

10.0 with the decimal moved two times to the left would leave you with: .1

Final answer: .1 is equivalent to 1/10.
