Answer:

This is  a brief write up on study of the sensory mechanisms employed by the

Robin (Turdus migratorius) in locating earthworms.

METHODS AND MATERIALS

The American Robin were captured in the wilds and caged on an outdoor lawn .The experimental birds were observed to have food preferences. Some selected the food they eat. some eat banana or apple, whilke others do accept he food offered to them

FIELD OBSERVATIONS

The robins where observed to find worms in the lawn early in the morning before sunrise and few hours before sunset until the dark hours. Birds run few feet , stopped for few seconds before running again with the head slightly tilted forward in observation.

Experimental Observations.

Some worms where placed on the lawns, it was discovered that the Robbins fed on them. While the ones placed underneath the lawn were not fed upon by the Robbin. Due to the fact that they are out of site. The worms that are slightly out of the ground were feasted by the bird.

The American Robin also was found to pick up a worm either dead or alive for taste instead of smelling before feasting upon it.

CONCLUSION

From the following  experiment robins are looking for the visible signs of worms in their

burrows, when the worms are forced to the surface by moisture in the ground, or at

dawn and dusk when the worms are foraging near or on the surface of the ground.

They do not use their olfactory lobes in food search

Universal Syndication has told television stations and networks that they cannot have the rights to play "Friends" reruns unless
cestrela7 [59]

Answer:

The answer is b. is a tying arrangement that may be a violation of federal antitrust law.

Explanation:

If Universal Syndication has told television stations and networks that they cannot have the rights to play program (“Friends” rerun), unless they also agree to take packages (i.e., typing of other packages), even though the television stations and networks complain that the packages do not draw viewers ,then Universal Syndication’s requirement for tying (or bundling) might be a violation of federal antitrust law because it (Universal Syndication) could be using monopoly power in one television market as an influence to control competition, and strengthen its monopoly power in another market.

Name 3 ways middle east countries compensate for not having water
Dmitrij [34]

A water scarcity report issued recently as a collaboration of several U.S. intelligence agencies predicts that the likelihood of conflict over water will increase in the coming decades. The report argues that the Middle East, as perhaps the most water impoverished region of the world, will be particularly susceptible to so-called “water wars.”

The strain on the global water supply is the result of a number of factors. First, most of the Earth’s water is simply unavailable for consumption, sanitation, or agricultural purposes because 97% of it is salt water. Of the remaining 3%, only 1% is available for direct human use. Moreover, in some areas of the world, the available freshwater supply is being depleted faster than it is being replenished. Saudi Arabia, for example, gets 70% of its water from 21 aquifers where water is being extracted faster than nature can restore the supply. In the case of Yemen, the state’s current water demand exceeds its renewable water resources by 900 million cubic meters per year.

As the world’s population continues to grow, the demand for water will increase correspondingly. The high population growth rates, hovering around 2% in the region compared to the world average of 1.1%, and paucity of arable land in the Middle East will make water shortages in the region particularly acute.  The United Nations predicts that by 2025, 30 countries will be water scarce, out of which 18 will be in the Middle East and North Africa
