I think this was a successful cover because the artist used space and lighting to make the subject stand out. The background is completely dark, and because the clothing and bed around the subject is white, it creates contrast and makes her stand out on the cover. It also has a simple composition, so there aren’t too many things fighting for attention on the cover.
