A) The answer is 9.3 * 10⁷ mi

First, represent the number as the product of a number in the range 1 up to 10 and a number divisible by 10:
93,000,000 mi = 9.3 * 10,000,000 mi

10,000,000 = 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 * 10 = 10⁷

 93,000,000 mi = 9.3 * 10,000,000 mi = 9.3 * 10⁷ mi

b) The answer is 4 * 10⁻² in

Represent the number as the product of a number in the range 1 up to 10 and a number divisible by 10.
0.04 in = 4 * 0.01 in

0.01 = 10⁻²

0.04 in = 4 * 0.01 in = 4 * 10⁻² in

c) The distance to the sun in inches is  5,892,480,000,000 in

1 mi = 63,360 in
93,000,000 mi = 93,000,000 * 63,360 in = 5,892,480,000,000 in

<span>How many fireflies would it take to reach the sun if they were put end to end:
</span>147,312,000,000,000<span>

x - number of fireflies
x * 0.04 in = </span>5,892,480,000,000 in
x = 5,892,480,000,000 in / 0.04 in
x = 147,312,000,000,000

Tony and Cleo are donating some of their books to a hospital. If Tony contributes half of his books and Cleo gives one third of
liraira [26]
Short Answer: Tony 40 Cleo 30
Givens

T = Tony
C = Cleo

Equations
1/2 T + 1/3 C = 30      (1)
2/5 T + 1/2 C = 31       (2)

Adjustments
Multiply  (1) by 3
Multiply (2) by 2

New Equations
3/2 T + C = 90      (1a)
<u>4/5 T + C = 62</u>      (2a) Subtract (2a) from (1a)
(3/2 - 4/5)T = 28                      the common multiple of 2 and 5 = 10.
(15/10 - 8/10)T = 28
7/10 T = 28                              Multiply by 10
7T = 28*10
7T = 280  Divide by 7
T = 280/7 = 40

Put T = 40 into (1)
1/2 T + 1/3 C = 30
1/2 (40) + 1/3 C = 30
20 + 1/3 C = 30                      Subtract 20 from both sides.
1/3 C = 30 - 20
1/3 C = 10                              Multiply through by 3
C = 10 * 3
C = 30

Answer:
Cleo has 30 books.
Tony has 40 books.

Check
<em>Use Equation 2</em>
2/5 T + 1/2 C = 31
2/5*40 + 1/2 * 30 = ? 31
16 + 15 =?3`
31 = 31 They are equal.

Use the Distributive Property to simplify the expression.<br> 8(5g+5−2)=
Vaselesa [24]
You multiply the number 8 to each term in the parentheses. 8 x 5g = 40g; 8 x 5 = 40; 8 x (-2) = -16 Combine these together and it would be 40g + 40 - 16

The owner of a fish market has an assistant who has determined that the weights of catfish are normally distributed, with mean
LiRa [457]

Answer:

P(X\geq 3.4)=0.0228

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the mean is 3.2, standard deviation is 0.8 and the sample size is 64.

-We calculate the  probability of a mean of 3.4 as follows:

#First determine the z-value:

z=\frac{\bar X -\mu}{\sigma/\sqrt{n}}\\\\=\frac{3.4-3.2}{0.8/\sqrt{64}}\\\\=2.000

#We then determine the corresponding probability on the z tables:

Z(X\geq 3.4)=1-P(X

Hence, the probability of obtaining a sample mean this large or larger is 0.0228
